Anyone who has a pet knows that they are more than just an animal living in your home; pets are a part of your family.

No two animals are the same, the love and attention you get from one animal is different from that of another. So it is heartbreaking when an animal goes missing.

This terrifying situation happened to Iris Estrada Samaniego and her family. Their beloved senior cat, Diego, went missing and they couldn’t find him anywhere.

Iris thought he might have been eaten by coyotes, as Diego went missing in June 2015 and hadn’t been seen since then.

He was a 12-year-old cat at the time of his disappearance, which is in the senior range. Anything could have happened to him, but Iris didn’t give up hope.

One day, in December 2016, something in her gut told her to go to the shelter. Iris went with her sister, Crystal, who shared the story on Facebook. Sure enough, Diego was at the shelter!

Iris was in tears the moment she held Diego and couldn’t stop saying how she just knew he was alive! I’ve been in Iris’ place before, for not quite as long, so I know just how wonderful this kind of reunion can be!
