Dancing is a beautiful form of expression, and the best part is you don’t need a professional dance studio to do it (although it doesn’t hurt when you do).
While some people go to classes, others turn up the music in their own home and go crazy. Some do it as a hobby, while others do it for the fun of it — just check out this grandma, who busts a move while making dinner!
Dancers come in all shapes and sizes, too. Yes, we are used to seeing lean bodies breaking sweats on stage when we see a show or a performance. But the reality is anyone passionate enough can do it, and do it well.
And on December 20, 2016, we witnessed this firsthand in Erik Cavanaugh. The 23-year-old showed everyone that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.
In the video below, Cavanaugh sets himself up to start spinning in the beginning of a dance routine, picking up momentum as he swings his leg around and around. The music start building, and so does the suspense. Before you know it, Cavanaugh looks like he’s flying in the air.
This isn’t Cavanaugh’s first ballet rodeo. He has numerous dancing videos that can be seen on his YouTube channel, with a message that there is not one type of dancer.
In an interview with People, Cavanaugh said: “Dance is for everyone and anyone who is willing to put in the work. I want people to finally see the world of dance as much more than just one size.”
Cavanaugh is a great example of fearless passion. We should all learn from this talented performer.
